2020 Spring Grant Awards

Williamsburg Community Foundation awarded $35,480 in competitive grants recently to 13 organizations serving the community! Thank you to the hundreds of local people who have contributed to make these grants possible!  Read below to learn how your support is changing lives in our community.

Community Endowment Grants


Bacon Street Youth & Family Services

Children & Young Adults

The Bridges Project 2.0 expands a successful peer-to-peer youth mentoring program to a second high school in the Williamsburg area while focusing on at-risk youth during the 8th-9th grade transition through therapeutic adventure-based programming.

Grant Award: $2,000.

Child Development Resources

Children & Young Adults

CDR’s Responsive Motherhood program provides comprehensive motherhood support through home visiting, parent education and peer-to-peer support groups. Breastfeeding, infant massage, postpartum mood disorder support and general infant care are among the needs addressed.

Grant Award: $5,000.

Greater Williamsburg Distance Running Club (NEW)

Children & Young Adults

Expand running opportunities to youth in Grove and Williamsburg by creating a Grove running club, a running & fitness festival in Grove, and by supporting Middle School clubs.

Grant Award: $2,000.

One Child Center for Autism

Children & Young Adults

Kids’ Night is a monthly program providing caregivers of children with special needs ages 1-16 with a night of qualified childcare (special education professionals and volunteers), while providing a fun environment for the children.

Grant Award: $2,500.

Real People Educating Others (NEW)

Children & Young Adults

This program is designed to strategically expose local youth to practices and concepts that will be significant in their development as global citizens. Simultaneously, the program will address concerns shared regionally regarding our youth.

Grant Award: $1,380.

Williamsburg Community Growers

Environment & Conservation

To meet growing demand for fresh produce donations to our community, to serve as a platform for year around conservation and agriculture education, and to achieve sustainable programming, WCG will build a sustainable greenhouse.

Grant Award: $3,000.

Community of Faith Mission

Health & Community Wellness

Community of Faith Mission operates the only emergency winter shelter in the Williamsburg area and will provide shoes, clear tote bags, weekly hygiene kits, clothing, and bedding for up 40 guests per week from November through March.

Grant Award: $5,000.

Grove Christian Outreach Center

Health & Community Wellness 

The Food Pantry and Clothing Closet Programs seek to provide ample food and nourishment and seasonally appropriate new/gently used clothing for each member of every household served.

Grant Award: $5,000.

Habitat for Humanity of the Peninsula & Greater Williamsburg (NEW)

Health & Community Wellness 

The James City County Home Repair Blitz is a one day, volunteer-led event that serves low-income, elderly, veteran and/or disabled homeowners who have struggled to maintain the exterior of their homes.

Grant Award: $2,500.

Housing Partnerships Inc.

Health & Community Wellness 

This grant will help fund the purchase of three aluminum ADA-compliant handicapped ramps. HPI will install these ramps at clients’ homes temporarily until we can construct permanent, wooden ADA-compliant ramps.

Grant Award: $2,500.

Olde Towne Medical & Dental Center

Health & Community Wellness

Olde Towne is renovating a space in the Dental Clinic to serve as a fifth operatory to meet the increased patient demand. This grant will cover the cost of new dental equipment.

Grant Award: $3,000.

Genevieve McGiffert Memorial Fund for the Musical Performing Arts

Williamsburg Choral Guild

Arts & Culture

For their March 2021 performance, Out of the Deep, including the seven-movement ‘Requiem’ by John Rutter with choir, soprano solo, full orchestra or chamber ensemble.

Grant Award: $800


Williamsburg Women’s Chorus

Arts & Culture

For their 2020 winter concert and 2021 spring concert, featuring new women’s choral music, guest musicians, youth choir, and scholarship winners.
