When Jim Joseph talks about his wife Marjorie, you can hear the pride in his voice. “She loved this community, and she wanted to help this community. So when my daughter Lynn suggested creating a memorial scholarship in her mother’s name, it just fit.”
Born and raised in the small college town of Potsdam, New York, Marjorie fell in love with another small college town further south when they moved to Williamsburg in 1996. They set down new roots here. With a yearly scholarship in Marjorie’s name, those roots will continue to grow. “The scholarship committee made it so easy to do what we wanted to do: to carry on her legacy. God-willing, we will do it every year.”
The first Marjorie Joseph Scholarship went to a student from Lafayette High School in 2017. The youngest of four children, and the child of two public school teachers, he is now studying engineering at Virginia Tech. Marjorie Joseph would be proud.
