Walsingham Academy, Salvation Army and St. Bede Receive over $98,000 in Grants from the Jenny E. Wible Fund
September 6, 2018 – Thanks to a generous bequest from Jenny E. Wible, three local organizations will receive financial support for their missions in the coming year. Williamsburg Community Foundation Director Nancy Sullivan and Board Chair Ron Lodzieski recently presented $98,683 in Wible Fund grants for 2018 to the leadership of these three organizations.
Mrs. Wible passed away in 2017, leaving over $3 million to the Williamsburg Community Foundation – the single largest gift in the Foundation’s nearly 20-year history. This incredible bequest created the Jenny E. Wible Fund, which will forever support the organizations she cared about: Walsingham Academy, the Salvation Army of Williamsburg, and St. Bede Catholic Church.
Every year, a portion of the endowment will be distributed to these three groups according to Mrs. Wible’s wishes. Originally from Germany, Mrs. Wible spent much of her life in Williamsburg, working in the dining services of Colonial Williamsburg and eventually retiring here. Although she lived a quiet life, she will be forever remembered for the considerable legacy she left to these three organizations.
